Hello Friends—
We’re back in the saddle again!! Well, mostly … and it feels great— your presence has made all the difference.
It’s amazing how busy I was before I really got BUSY touring.
We did have many lives gigs in 2021 before that really began in October … among them; Estes Park CO, Crooners in Mpls, Jazz Forum in Tarrytown, Chelsea Table and Stage in NYC with Gil Goldstein — all great venues and we look forward to returning !!
For our mid-west tour in October we started at Crooners and had a wonderful time with Miro, Jay Young & Dave Schmalenberger… “Karrin’s Kaleidoscope” has been a rewarding theme… We played Jazz Coterie/Wisconsin venues in Stevens Point & Appleton (lovely people) driving a LONG way to KC for the Folly Theatre — and when I walked out onto that stage, I felt a palpable warm embrace from the KC audience … it was something!
Next night was Omaha NE @ the Jewell was the same— what a blast we had! With Bob Bowman, Miro and Jerome Jennings— Off to Chicago @ lovely Winter’s Jazz Club— always fun with Miro, Larry Kohut, Eric Montzka… back to NYC to do laundry and re-pack for the …West Coast— we started @ Vitello’s in LA – audiences were fantastic! Lovely to play w LA players Miro, Dave Robaire & Dan Schnelle (and having Larry Koonse & Joe
La Barbera in the audience didn’t make us nervous at ALL !! 🙂 So great to see everybody.
Onto the Bay Area… starting out at Half Moon Bay’s Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society — what a setting that is…then to the venerable Yoshi’s in Oakland, and onto
the wonderful Jazz Alley in Seattle — another ‘home’ for me.
Back to the East Coast where we played a lovely venue in Saratoga Springs NY “Cafe Lena”, then to great Scullers in Boston — and a house party there next day !
Thanksgiving was very good in NYC … had friends over for dinner and family the night after that.
Getting ready for a few more great dates before 2022 comes on…. Dec 4 in Hartford CT (Manchester Fest) and Dec 5 in Lenox for Holiday music with Ted Rosenthal Trio …
And NYEVE!!! @ the Jazz Forum in Tarrytown Dec 31 & Jan 1 with Ted, Ed Howard and Matt Wilson — we’ll have a ball I’m sure.
Hard to believe we are ONTO 2022 !!
We’re playing a new club in Portsmouth NH on Jan 14… looks lovely.
and BIRDLAND!! January 25 through 29 … this is a project we’ve been working on for a bit: Silver Lining; Karrin sings the songs of Bonnie Raitt.
I’ll have a great band as always, Rod Fleeman, Chris Caswell (organ) Jay Young (electric bass) and Jerome Jennings drums… I’ll play acoustic piano as usual when it feels right—
I’ve loved Bonnie Raitt as long as I can remember –we’ll include her earlier tunes like Women Be Wise, Guilty, The Glow and more recent songs like Valley of Pain,
Something to Talk About, Silver Lining — don’t miss this one.
